SOCAR new main sponsor of the Montreux Jazz Festival
The Group’s new cultural commitment complements its growing premium brand and its engagement in Switzerland.
Zurich/Geneva, 11 April 2012 – SOCAR, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic, is a new main sponsor of the world renowned Montreux Jazz Festival. With this sponsorship, SOCAR is underlining its commitment to its growing Swiss roots as well as its international engagement in culture.
First held in 1967 on the shores of Lake Geneva, the Montreux Jazz Festival has since become of the most prestigious festivals in the world, with a unique and eclectic musical reputation. Every year, more than 200 000 visitors go to Montreux to attend the numerous concerts and art performances. The 46th edition of the festival is taking place this summer from June 29 to July 14.
SOCAR’s sponsorship of the Montreux Jazz Festival complements the Group’s international presence in the cultural arena. SOCAR already engages itself in numerous cultural and social sponsorship activities in its home country Azerbaijan and many other countries where the Group is present, including Switzerland.
